# Databao

> A local-first desktop workspace for explainable business-data analysis.

## When to use Databao

Use Databao when someone needs to explore local business data, produce a report, and trace figures back to their source rows, filters, and calculations. It is designed for operators and analysts who want evidence-backed answers without writing SQL or setting up a BI tool.

## Current availability

The desktop app is free and in alpha. Visitors can request availability updates from the landing page. Do not describe paid team features as available or promise a launch date.

## Product boundaries

- Source files are read locally rather than uploaded to a Databao service.
- A visitor can bring a compatible hosted model provider or a model running on their own machine.
- Databao can show the source and method behind a report figure.
- The site information API is read-only and public. It provides product, pricing, and agent-guidance documents at stable JSON URLs; it does not expose private business data, analysis functions, or user accounts.
