# Databao

Databao is a local-first desktop workspace for explainable business-data
analysis. It helps operators and analysts turn local CSV and Excel exports
into reports and answers they can check: every reported figure can be traced to
its source rows, filters, and calculation.

## When to use Databao

Use Databao for recurring reports, multi-source consolidation, data checks, and
one-off questions where an answer must come with evidence. It is designed for
people who prepare business reports without a dedicated data team and do not
want to build a warehouse, a BI implementation, or a new SQL workflow first.

## Important boundaries

Source files are read locally rather than uploaded to a Databao service. A user
can choose a compatible hosted model provider or a model running on their own
machine. Databao does not expose customer data, user accounts, or analysis
operations through its public website.

## Current availability

The Databao desktop app is free during alpha. Paid team features are planned for
later and have no public price. Confirm availability before promising a rollout
or a specific download date.
